WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Today, Congressman Jerrold Nadler (NY-10), who represents parts of Manhattan and Brooklyn, announced more than $2.4 million in federal funding going to 13 New York institutions and individuals, including New York University, the American Museum of Natural History, the New York Public Library, and the New York Historical Society. The funding, which is provided by the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), will support a range of projects in New York, including efforts to preserve culturally important artifacts and initiatives to make history more easily accessible to the public.
“Everyone knows New York City as a world renowned center for arts and culture, which is why it is no surprise that so many wonderful institutions in our City have been selected by the NEH to receive this new funding,” said Congressman Nadler. “As a country, it is vital we continue to provide robust funding to the institutions, organizations, and individuals that strive to expand the boundaries of human knowledge, and preserve our history for future generations. More than $2.4 million in NEH funding shows the depth and value of the contribution made right here in New York City, and I am proud to represent such a diverse district which continues to make important contributions to our history and culture.”
The National Endowment for the Humanities supports research and education in history, literature, philosophy, and other areas of the humanities by awarding competitive grants to related programs and institutions across the United States.
