Rep. Nadler Statement on the Anniversary of September 11th

Today, Congressman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) released the following statement on the anniversary of September 11th:

"Seventeen years ago, New York, the country and the world were forever changed. Today, we reflect on the tragedy of that morning, remember those we lost in New York, the Pentagon, and Shanksville, and join their families and friends in mourning the thousands of lives cut short. We must also recommit ourselves to protecting the heroic responders and survivors who continue to battle illnesses every day.

"I was proud to fight for the World Trade Center Health Program, in which more than 88,000 men and women are enrolled to receive care for 9/11-related illnesses, and to re-open the Victim Compensation Fund, which has now awarded over 19,000 survivors and responders nearly $4.3 billion in compensation. On the 17th anniversary of that tragic day, we recommit ourselves to never forgetting the events of September 11th and to fighting every day to preserve the memories of those we have lost and supporting all those who survived."
