Today, Congressman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY), released the following statement:

President Obama should be commended for the recent agreement negotiated between the Administration, Russia, and Syria. Obviously, moving and destroying Syria’s chemical weapons, as the agreement contemplates, is far better than simply degrading Syria’s chemical warfare capability, the stated goal of military action. We will certainly need assurances that Bashar al-Assad will fully comply, and we must monitor the situation closely.

Nonetheless, because of President Obama’s leadership, it appears that we may be able to remove chemical weapons from Syria without taking military action. And for this, the President deserves great credit and our thanks.
