Congressman Nadler Meets With Local Tech And Business Entrepreneurs

NEW YORK, NY -- Representative Jerrold Nadler (NY-10), Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Courts, Intellectual Property and the Internet and senior member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, met yesterday with tech entrepreneurs and toured Fueled Collective, a collaborative work-space in New York. The tour, organized in partnership with FWD.us, included entrepreneurs from around the world, and highlighted some of the work being done in New York’s tech industry.

Congressman Nadler, who represents a large segment of the NYC tech industry, visited Fueled Collective, which boasts a diverse collection of entrepreneurs from different backgrounds working in New York’s technology sector. Meeting with local tech and business entrepreneurs to talk about a range of issues affecting their industry, Rep. Nadler discussed ideas for how the federal government can help facilitate growth within the industry, and heard from members about the value-add that high-skilled immigration brings to the tech economy and the importance of entrepreneurship in the New York community. Rep. Nadler was also given a chance to learn about some of the new enterprises being developed at Fueled Collective, and heard firsthand from entrepreneurs about their influence on the economy and ability to create American jobs.

“New York City is one of the main hubs for tech and entrepreneurship, not just here in the United States, but globally as a driver of innovation and business. Promoting local entrepreneurship helps grow New York’s economy and adds to the sector as a whole, which is why it is so important for the federal government to understand the key issues affecting the tech industry. It is great to see the work taking root at Fueled Collective, hearing about the experiences of local entrepreneurs from diverse backgrounds and getting their insights into how we can help the industry going forward, and I look forward to more conversations with our tech community in the future," said Congressman Jerrold Nadler (NY-10).

"Fueled was thrilled to host Congressman Nadler and the FWD.us delegation yesterday. We pride ourselves on offering our clients access to world class technical talent, which often means hiring from around the world,” said Aaron Cohen, Venture Director at Fueled. “Speaking with Rep. Nadler about our experiences navigating the H-1B visa system, along with those of our friends and colleagues in the NYC tech community, gave us some insights into how we can improve an obviously broken system."

"Congressman Nadler's support for New York's vibrant tech community helps entrepreneurs and undoubtedly strengthens New York’s economy,” said Todd Schulte, President of FWD.us. “Highly-skilled immigrants like those working at Fueled Collective help to grow our economy, expand opportunity, and create American jobs. We should be doing everything in our power to attract and keep this type of talent in the U.S., not turn it away to then compete against us.”
