Nadler Hosts Oberstar in New York City

Congressman Jerrold Nadler (NY-08), the highest ranking member from New York to serve on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, today welcomed James Oberstar (MN-08), the Chairman of the Committee to New York City. Rep. Nadler hosted meetings between Oberstar and key top state and local government transportation officials, policy makers, and industry and labor leaders. Industry leaders included members of the New York Building Congress, a broad organization that works to promote the growth of the city’s construction industry.

"New York has a great friend in Chairman Oberstar," said Rep. Nadler. "He has helped me bring hundreds of millions of dollars in transportation funding to the city and state of New York, and we owe him a debt of gratitude for recognizing our serious transportation needs. The Chairman appreciates the importance of funding for mass transit and the efficient transportation of goods to keep the nation and its largest city moving. There is no one in Congress who understands the complex issues of transportation better than him."

"It has also been a pleasure working with the Chairman to secure our nation’s ports," Rep. Nadler added. "We will continue to work together to demand the government ensure that all shipping containers bound for our country are scanned."
