"After years of pressure by myself and colleagues on the House Judiciary Committee, today’s announcement of a SCOTUS code of conduct is a step in the right direction after Justice Thomas’ egregious violations of the Ethics in Government Act. However, without an enforcement mechanism, legislation is still necessary to hold SCOTUS Justices to a uniform code of conduct in the same way Members of Congress already do. A fair, impartial court is a cornerstone of our democracy, and we must restore Americans' faith in our judicial system."
