Washington, DC – Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) and Rep. Nydia M. Velázquez (D-NY) released the following statement regarding news that Industry City has withdrawn its rezoning application:

“This victory for Sunset Park was achieved because the community raised its collective voice to demand the right to shape the neighborhood’s growth. We thank all those who spoke out and stepped forward. Now that Industry City has withdrawn this plan, the work continues as we endeavor to deliver on real planning for our waterfront and the entire industrial business zone. The City must play a central role going forward, taking a holistic view, broadly reexamining the economic environment, and committing to a long term plan that embraces real manufacturing jobs which meet pressing environmental needs and offer equitable economic opportunity for local residents and area small businesses.”
