Congressman Nadler’s Statement on USPS’s Failure to Keep Public Informed on Port Authority Finance Station

Earlier this week, Congressman Nadler and local elected officials sent a letter to the United States Postal Service regarding the agency’s failure to provide any substantive information at a public hearing on the possible relocation of the Port Authority Finance Station Post Office. Rep. Nadler issued the following statement on the letter:

“The Postal Service owes the public accurate information and transparency, and last week’s meeting provided neither. Beyond stating that the agency is considering moving the facility because it has lost its lease, the USPS did not provide any information on which the community can form an opinion about the move, including alternative sites or what services would be continued or reduced. Quite frankly, the public left the meeting with more questions than they went in with. USPS must restart this process, and begin it by providing a comprehensive, informative presentation about its plans.”
