NEW YORK,
NY – Congressman Jerrold Nadler
(NY-08) today issued the following statement regarding Iranian President
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s scheduled address of the United Nations General Assembly:
“Today, as we find Iranian President Ahmadinejad once again
in the United States on a
mission to spread ugly propaganda, I am compelled to state in the strongest
terms my condemnation of President Ahmadinejad, of the current regime in Iran,
and of the lies, bigotry and violence which they represent. I am gratified that Ahmadinejad’s visit has
again elicited major protest right here in New York. At today’s rally, many different voices have solidified in loud
opposition to Ahmadinejad and his supporters.
“We are unified in our condemnation of Ahmadinejad’s
anti-Semitism and Holocaust revisionism. We condemn Iran’s
support for terrorism and illegal development of nuclear weapons. And we do not take lightly the presence on
our soil of a theocrat who routinely squelches human rights, free speech and
the very dignity to be free in his own country.”
