Nadler Announces $2.4 Million in Federal Arts Grants to New York’s 8th District

Today, Congressman Jerrold Nadler (NY-08) announced $2.4 million in National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Direct Grants to his congressional district in New York City. These federal stimulus funds, authorized through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, are intended for nonprofit arts organizations in support of job preservation during the current economic recession, at a time when philanthropic and private support for the arts has diminished.

“I am very proud that the 8th congressional district of New York City is the most flourishing and dynamic cultural district in the country,” said Nadler. “And, as always, I am proud to support the important and enriching organizations which give New York and the United States their creative edge. It’s always essential to support the arts in our communities, but these stimulus funds are particularly significant right now for the retention of thousands of local jobs.”
