Nadler to Continue Role as New York’s Voice on House Democratic Steering Committee

Today, Congressman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) was selected by colleagues to be New York’s official representative on the House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee.  Nadler will continue to serve as the officer for New York (the largest of the Committee’s 12 regions) and make official nominations for House Committee assignments and policy recommendations for the next Congress.  His role on the Committee will be to advocate for New York State and its 22-member Democratic delegation.

“I am honored to receive the support of my colleagues for this important job,” said Nadler.  “During the 112th Congress I will work hard to advance New York’s legislative goals and will advocate on behalf of members of New York’s congressional delegation.”

The Steering and Policy Committee is chaired by Reps. Rosa DeLauro and George Miller and is charged with making committee assignments for Democratic members and policy recommendations to the party’s leadership.  The 112th Congress will convene on January 5, 2011.
