Today, Congressman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) spoke on the House floor in unequivocal support for legislation to step up sanctions against Iran. The House voted to advance H.R. 2194, the Iran Refined Petroleum Sanctions Act, which seeks to prevent nuclear weapons development in Iran. The legislation calls on President Obama to expand the economic sanctions currently imposed on the Iranian regime.

“The prospect of an Iranian state armed with nuclear weapons is simply intolerable for the world,” said Nadler. “The Bush Administration was here for eight years. They pursued a policy of talk tough and carry a toothpick. Now we have an Administration that comes in with a policy of big sticks and big carrots.”
