Today, Congressman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) issued the following statement in response to the United Nations Security Council’s adoption of sanctions against Iran:

“Today’s vote by the UN Security Council is a crucial step in affirming international disapproval of the Iranian regime’s dangerous and illegal nuclear weapons program. The United Nations has acknowledged that the world cannot tolerate – or risk – a nuclear Iran, and it will now mete out economic and political consequences for the regime’s continued flouting of international law. I thank President Obama for his strong leadership in seeing today’s resolution through and confronting the Iranian threat head-on.

“I have been a proud supporter of efforts in Congress to increase sanctions against the Iranian regime, and I strongly believe that we must keep the pressure on if we are to relieve the world of this mounting and unacceptable threat.”
