Nadler Introduces Bipartisan Resolution Recognizing the Historic USS New York

Today, Congressman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) introduced a bipartisan resolution in the House of Representatives recognizing the commission of the USS New York LPD 21 and honoring those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001 and those who serve in uniform to defend the United States. The historic new ship features a bow fashioned from 7.5 tons of steel forged from the wreckage of the World Trade Center.

“The USS New York LPD 21 represents a unique and powerful piece of New York’s recent history,” said Nadler. “This resolution is intended to demonstrate Congress’s strong commitment to the people of New York and to the men and women in uniform who put their lives on the line for us everyday. The ship’s motto is ‘Strength Forged Through Sacrifice. Never Forget.’ As New Yorkers, we understand all too well the sacrifices made on that day and we will certainly never forget. Today, we honor that memory and dedicate ourselves anew to fighting terrorism and supporting our brave men and women in uniform.”

Some facts about the USS New York LPD 21:
