Today, Congressman Jerrold Nadler (NY-10), who represents parts of Manhattan and Brooklyn, announced more than $750,000 in federal funding going to five New York institutions. The funding, which is provided by the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), will support a range of projects in New York, including efforts to preserve culturally important artifacts and initiatives to make history more easily accessible to the public.
“I am very proud of these wonderful organizations that have helped New York City become the world renowned center for arts and culture it is known as today," said Congressman Nadler. "Unfortunately, funding for the NEH remains under constant threat by President Trump, who has previously proposed eliminating all funding for the agency. We must not allow these vital programs, which have touched the lives of millions of Americans across the country, to be put in jeopardy due to the political whims of the president. It is imperative that we continue to provide robust funding to the artists, museums, and cultural organizations that preserve and protect our cultural heritage for future generations to come."
The National Endowment for the Humanities supports research and education in history, literature, philosophy, and other areas of the humanities by awarding competitive grants to related programs and institutions across the United States.
