Rep. Nadler Statement on Meeting with NYC Detectives’ Endowment Association

Congressman Jerrold Nadler (NY-08), Chair of the Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Civil Liberties, today issued the following statement regarding his meeting with representatives from the Detectives’ Endowment Association, Inc. of the Police Department of the City of New York (DEA):

“Today, I met with representatives of the Detectives’ Endowment Association at their request.  As Chair of the Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Civil Liberties, it is my job to gather as much information on these issues as possible.  As such, Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers and I, along with Congressman Gregory Meeks, will be conducting a forum next week in New York City, where we will hear from a variety of witnesses and experts in the field.  I believe that the independent review being currently conducted by the Department of Justice is necessary.  And I will continue to look for solutions to build public confidence in matters of this sort by ensuring that they are handled fairly, independently, and transparently.”
