Congressman Nadler on the Passing of Former Congressman Major Owens

Congressman Jerrold Nadler (NY-10) released the following statement on the passing of former Congressman Major Owens who represented Brooklyn from 1983 to 2007:

Today, New York, and our entire country, lost a great public servant. I’ve also lost a friend. Whether it was from the streets of New York City, the floor of the House of Representatives, or the classrooms of Medgar Evans College, Major always fought for an America that lived up to its highest ideals.

As a champion of progressive values he was a strong and passionate advocate for workers, those in poverty, Americans with disabilities, and others who are too often forgotten by those in power. Major will truly be missed.
