Nadler Named Ranking Democrat on Subcommittee on the Constitution and Civil Justice of House Judiciary Committee

Today, Congressman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY), one of Congress’s most outspoken defenders of civil rights and civil liberties, was again named the Ranking Democrat on the newly renamed Subcommittee on the Constitution and Civil Justice of the House Judiciary Committee.  The Constitution subcommittee has jurisdiction over all proposed constitutional amendments, constitutional rights, federal civil rights laws, LGBT rights, abortion, and other civil liberties.
Nadler issued the following statement:
“I am honored to continue to represent my constituents on one of the most important subcommittees in the House of Representatives.  I look forward to working with my colleagues to advance critical constitutional and civil rights that continue to be under attack by a rightwing majority in the House and in the courts.  I will do my very best to form a first line of defense against any and all attempts to limit or rollback protections against Americans – whether women, African-Americans, the LGBT community, immigrants, or other targeted groups.”
