On Wednesday, Congressman Nadler was announced as one of six Democratic Members chosen by Leader Nancy Pelosi to serve on the Republicans’ newest Select Committee. As a fierce advocate in the House Judiciary Committee championing the constitutional rights of women and families, Congressman Nadler was selected along with Reps. Jan Schakowsky, Diana DeGette, Jackie Speier, Suzan DelBene, and Bonnie Watson Coleman, to stand up for women’s health and reproductive rights against attacks from the newly formed Select Committee, set up in a blatant attempt to eliminate the constitutionally-protected right of women to access an abortion.

There is a long history of politicians attempting to legislate against women’s personal health choices, against medical facts, and against the U.S. Constitution. Conservatives in Congress have used any excuse to stop safe and legal abortion in this country. That is why it is incumbent on those of us in Congress who know the truth, who know the rights guaranteed by our Constitution and the lifesaving services millions of women and families depend on, to stand up to the continued lies being used to attack women’s health.
