U.S. Representatives Carolyn B. Maloney (NY-14), Vito Fossella (NY-13), and Jerrold Nadler (NY-8) released the following statement today in response to the city medical examiner’s ruling on the death of retired police detective and Ground Zero veteran James Zadroga, and the medical examiner’s meeting with Mr. Zadroga’s family:

“It is our understanding the Zadroga family has spoken with the Medical Examiner. Their lawyer, Michael Barash, has indicated that he and the family do not agree with the Medical Examiner’s findings and that the family is now reviewing the matter. The family has asked that everyone respect their privacy at this time.”

The New York medical examiner’s ruling rejected a previous New Jersey medical examiner ruling that Zadroga's death was related to his work at Ground Zero.
