Rep. Nadler Hails Progress of St. Vincent’s Hospital Redevelopment
New York, NY,
March 10, 2009
Today, Congressman Jerrold Nadler (NY-08) hailed the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission’s decision to grant a Certificate of Appropriateness for the redevelopment of St. Vincent’s Hospital in Greenwich Village. This approval will now bring St. Vincent’s, the only Level 1 Trauma Center in Manhattan south of 59th Street, one major step closer to its planned new construction of a state-of-the-art green medical facility.
“Today’s decision is great news for St. Vincent’s Hospital and great news for Manhattan,” said Rep. Nadler. “I want to thank Commissioner Tierney and the Landmarks Preservation Commission for their careful consideration of this complex and important issue. I support St. Vincent’s efforts to continue and expand its excellent services for Manhattan residents, and I applaud its responsiveness to the historic preservation and community needs concerning the new facility’s design. I look forward to the continued involvement of the community around the design of the public open space located on the triangle.” St. Vincent’s Hospital is located at 170 West 12th Street and serves Manhattan residents from West 59th Street down to the Battery. |
