Nadler Hails President’s Appointment of Elizabeth Warren as Special Advisor on Consumer Financial Protection
New York, NY,
September 16, 2010
Today, Congressman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) issued the following statement in response to President Obama’s appointment of Elizabeth Warren as Assistant to the President and Special Advisor to the Secretary of the Treasury to oversee the establishment of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau:
“I want to commend President Obama for selecting Elizabeth Warren to be America’s consumer watchdog and oversee the creation of the new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. On the heels of our recent passage of legislation designed to protect consumers and reestablish checks and balances on our troubled financial regulatory system, we need a strong, independent and visionary advocate for the American people leading the charge, and Ms. Warren is just that person. Under her watch, I believe that we can begin to regain our financial stability and protect American consumers, while strengthening our economy and providing for its long-term security.” |
