Nadler Welcomes Approval of St. Vincent’s Hospital Redevelopment
New York, NY,
July 7, 2009
Today, Congressman Jerrold Nadler (NY-08) hailed the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission’s vote of approval for the residential portion of the St. Vincent’s Hospital redevelopment project. Since December 2007, the Commission has been reviewing St. Vincent’s application for redevelopment and adaptive reuse of its Medical Campus located in Greenwich Village. Today’s approval will now pave the way for St. Vincent’s planned new construction of a state-of-the-art green medical facility.
“Today’s approval represents significant progress for this important redesign project,” said Nadler. “Providing New Yorkers with a fully modern and efficient Level 1 trauma center in Manhattan is critical. I want to thank Commissioner Tierney and the Landmarks Preservation Commission for their careful consideration of this complex issue. Once realized, St. Vincent’s new facility will be a tremendous resource for Manhattan residents and a valuable contribution to the neighborhood. As we begin the environmental review process, I look forward to continuing to work with my constituents, Rudin Management and St. Vincent’s in order to see this beneficial project through.” |
