Congressman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) is pleased to announce that several programs benefiting the Jewish community in New York City received funding in the FY2005 Omnibus Appropriations bill. The funding, which Rep. Nadler helped secure, will go toward community building activities.
"It is a pleasure to announce that the House and Senate have recognized the very significant role these Jewish organizations have in our community," said Nadler. "Their service to our neighborhoods is invaluable and this funding will go a long way toward helping people in need."
The following programs in Nadler's Congressional District received funding in the Omnibus FY2005 Appropriations bill:
Sephardic Community Center (SCC) for (summer weekend programs for children) - $100,000
Sephardic Community Center (support services project) - $300,000
Sephardic Bikur Holim Community Services (addictive behavior program) - $100,000
OHEL Children’s Home and Family Services (support adult mental health and child abuse prevention program) - $550,000
OHEL Children’s Home and Family Services (support school based program to prevent child abuse)- $340,000
Center for Jewish History (education program) - $100,000
Center for Jewish History (digitization program) - $500,000
Boro Park Jewish Community Center (transportation funding) - $200,000
Jewish Community Center of Coney Island (transportation funding) - $100,000
