Congressman Nadler Reappointed to Transportation & Infrastructure Subcommittee on Highways and Transit, along with Subcommittee on Railroads, Pipelines and Hazardous Materials

Today, Congressman Jerrold Nadler (NY-10), announced that he will continue to serve on the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee after being reappointed to the Subcommittee on Highways and Transit, as well as the Subcommittee on Railroads, Pipelines and Hazardous Materials.  The Highways and Transit Subcommittee has responsibility for the development of national surface transportation policy, including public transit programs, Federal-Aid highways and bridges, research programs, transportation aspects of the Clean Air Act, and regulation of commercial motor carriers.  The Subcommittee on Railroads, Pipelines, and Hazardous Materials has jurisdiction over all matters relating to freight railroads, passenger rail service, including Amtrak and high-speed rail, the transportation of hazardous materials, and pipeline safety.

“I am proud to once again serve as the highest ranking Democrat from the Northeast on the Transportation & Infrastructure Committee, and specifically on the Highways and Transit and Railroad Subcommittees, which are so essential to our region,” said Congressman Nadler.  “Investing in transportation is one of the most important things we can do to create jobs and grow our economy.  As the new administration pursues an infrastructure agenda, I will fight to ensure that we bolster our federal transportation assets, invest in transit and rail, protect workers’ rights and create family-wage jobs, and prevent risky schemes to privatize our transportation systems.  I am also committed to working with my colleagues to ensure that the Trump Administration complies with all conflict-of-interest requirements regarding GSA leases and contracts under the Committee’s jurisdiction, such as the lease for the Trump Hotel in Washington DC.”
