Today, Congressman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY), Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Committee, released the following statement on the United States Supreme Court decision to not consider a case regarding merchants providing services to same-sex couples:
“It is unfortunate that the Court has decided not to take up this opportunity to hold definitively that same-sex couples cannot be turned away from a business open to the public just because of their sexual orientation. I hope ultimately that justice will prevail after the lower court takes another look at this case, and that the lower court will affirm its prior holding that Washington State’s non-discrimination laws protect same-sex couples from invidious discrimination by businesses.”
