Congressman Jerrold Nadler today released the following statement regarding the Israeli Defense Forces’ ongoing operations in Gaza and the West Bank.

“Since pulling out of Gaza last fall, Israel has shown tremendous restraint in the face of Palestinian terrorism.  Israel has been subjected to daily rocket attacks from Gaza intended to kill innocent civilians, and now it has seen the carefully orchestrated murder and kidnapping of Israelis and Israeli soldiers by terrorists in Gaza and the West Bank.  Israel cannot and should not tolerate these brutalities, and is taking appropriate action, just as any other nation would.

“I fully support Israel in her efforts to protect her citizens from terrorist attack.  Every civil nation should express solidarity with Israel’s struggle for peace.

“My heart is with the Israeli people as they pray for the safe return of Corporal Shalit.”
