Washington, D.C. – Today, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) released a letter he sent to the White House and the Justice Department to make it clear that Trump Administration officials should not be permitted to indefinitely delay and avoid answering questions in congressional hearings on the grounds that the answer might be privileged. The letter is in response to a February 7, 2019 letter from the Department of Justice. In Chairman Nadler’s letter, he explains that the Department’s attempts to avoid answering questions and avoid invoking executive privilege are “fundamentally incompatible with established law and with the executive branch’s own policies.” Full text of the letter is available here. |
