Nadler Condemns Reported Decision of the UN Secretary General to Attend Tehran Conference In Light of Iranian President’s Latest Call for the Elimination of Israel

Today, Congressman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) condemned the reported decision by United Nations Secretary Ban Ki-moon to attend the Non-Aligned Movement conference in Tehran, especially in light of the latest anti-Israeli remarks by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.  Congressman Nadler’s statement follows:

“I strongly disagree with the reported decision by United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to attend the conference of the Non-Aligned Movement later this month in Iran,” said Congressman Nadler. “Just last week, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad unleashed another ugly rant calling for the elimination of the State of Israel. Instead of emboldening such rhetoric by his presence in Tehran, the Secretary General should boycott the conference and its host, who will surely take the opportunity to publically dismiss nuclear sanctions, and broadcast more hateful and dangerous propaganda against the nation of Israel.”
