Today, Congressman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY), released the following statement applauding the historic, 10-year Memorandum of Understanding reached today between the United States and Israel:
“Today, the United States of America once again showed its commitment to the State of Israel, and to the unshakable bond between our two countries, with a 10-year Memorandum of Understanding for security assistance. The terms of this agreement are unprecedented, demonstrating the sincerity of President Obama’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of Israel, with the largest ever single pledge of military assistance in U.S. history. Over the 10 years of the new agreement, Israel will receive $38 billion, including $33 billion in Foreign Military Financing funds and an unprecedented $5 billion commitment in missile defense assistance – funding I have long supported and worked to secure. This is a significant increase over the current agreement, strengthening Israel’s Qualitative Military Edge at a time of ever increasing threats and dangerous volatility in the region. I applaud the President and his administration for negotiating such a historic agreement, and all parties who have worked tirelessly to promote and maintain the unbreakable bond between the United States and Israel.”
