Congressman Nadler Applauds the Unanimous Senate Passage of the Defend Trade Secrets Act

Today, Congressman Jerrold Nadler (NY-10), Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Courts, Intellectual Property and the Internet, and lead Democratic sponsor in the House of the Defend Trade Secrets Act, released the following statement applauding the Senate for unanimously passing the Defend Trade Secrets Act of 2016 (S.1890).

“I applaud the Senate for passing the Defend Trade Secrets Act and look forward to working with my colleagues in the House on moving this important legislation forward,” said Congressman Nadler. “With U.S. companies increasingly targeted, in part because of the vulnerability of trade secrets to theft, this bill will empower companies to protect their trade secrets by creating a federal private right-of-action.  Congress must do its part to provide protections for trade secrets to help combat the loss of hundreds of billions of dollars each year in the United States, and I am glad the Senate is now sending this bill to the House.”
